Let’s Get Out Explorers Camp

Explorer Camp is a full-day outdoor day camp based at Great River in Mosier, Oregon where children enjoy a fully immersed week in the forest. Each week campers will get to play in our Tree Park, create in our Forest Art Studio and build skills at our archery range.

In addition, each session children will play nature-based group games while we cultivate a sense of curiosity and wonder in our youngest campers and contribute to our community by participating in a stewardship project. Our days at camp are created with children’s unique sense of wonder in mind.

Each day follows a theme for the week and includes time to explore, drop into creative deep play, move bodies, and quiet time to rest, read stories and create art.

Let’s Move! It’s summer and this week we celebrate the beginning of our summer break as we focus on moving our bodies and connecting to the natural world through physical games and movement. Our campers will utilize breath work and mindful movement to start their days then we build into physical group games and activities. Campers will learn archery, participate in group challenges in our Tree Park, create art in our forest art studio, and work on a stewardship project.

Session 2 Explorer Camp: Imagine

June 24-27 9:00-3:30 pm $350  Ages 6-11

We welcome our campers this week to indulge their imaginations as we drop into the world of fairies, elves, dragons and other forest folk. Our week revolves around imaginary play while we develop our wilderness awareness skills through games and storytelling. We will use our imagination to create nature inspired art in our forest art studio, we will transform to become animals of the forest and create an imaginary village where we make shelter, tools, weapons and healing potions to take care of our community. Campers will train as warriors in our Tree Park and hone their archery skills, build shelters, and work on a stewardship project as they explore what it takes to care and protect their real and imagined community.

Session 3 Explorer Camp: Create

July 8-11 9:00-3:30 pm $350  Ages 6-11

Our creative spirits are powerful forces in the world. This week we begin with our mindset and experiment with how our thoughts create our reality. Campers will spend the week creating their own camp hideout, play group games in our Tree Park, learn to shoot with a bow and arrow, and make lots of nature inspired art in our forest art studio. As with all our sessions, our days will always include wilderness awareness games, forest exploration and a stewardship project.

Session 4 Explorer Camp: Discover

July 15-18 9:00-3:30 pm $350  Ages 6-11

Our essential question this week is, “Where are we?” Our exploration begins inside ourselves as we get quiet and tune into our senses. During the week we will learn to use our map and compass to discover where we stand on the land. We hone our wilderness awareness skills as we look for tracks, play wilderness awareness games in our Tree Park, and create works of art in our forest art studio. Children will have the opportunity to use a hand lens to discover who lives under our feet in the soil, build shelters in the forest, learn to shoot with a bow and arrow and give back to the land with a stewardship project.
